01 What is the distance and duration from San José to Tortuguero?

Distance from downtown San José and Tortuguero National Park is approximately 130 km (81miles). The travel time is from 4:30 to 5 hours, stop for breakfast in Guapiles must be taken into account.

02 When is turtle nesting season?

The official season is from July to September. Some years it extends until October.

03 Is there air conditioning?

As we are a hotel with sustainability policies and committed with the environment we do not have air conditioning. On the other hand, all rooms have ceiling fans.

04 Can I get there with my car?

No, to get to Tortuguero you must take a boat, so it is not possible to get there by car.

05 Do you offer laundry service?

Hotel does not have laundry service.

06 Is the turtle nesting tour included?

No, the turtle nesting tour is not included. Tour must be booked and paid directly in cash by the customer upon arrival at the hotel either in local currency, US dollars or euros.

7 What is the price of the entrance to the national park?

Tourist: Cost of the entrance to the park is $15.00 + IVA ($16.95) for people over 12 years old, $5,00+IVA ($5.65) for children from 6 to 12 years old and free for children under 5 years of age.

Costa Ricans and residents: The cost of the entrance to the Park is 1000 colones + IVA (1130 colones) for people over 12 years old, 500 colones + IVA (565 colones) for children from 6 to 12 years old and free for chidren under 5 years of age.

08 Where exactly is the hotel located?

Hotel is located in front of the main canal of the town of Tortuguero. Just 5 minutes by boat from the park and town.

09 Are pets accepted?

Taking into consideration plants and animals unfamiliar to pets, they are not allowed with the exception of guide dogs.

10 Is there a limit on the weight of suitcases or luggage?

Weight limit allowed per person is 12.5 kg (25 pounds) plus a carry-on bag.

11 How to get there from other destinations?

If you are traveling from other tourist destinations such as La Fortuna or from the South Caribbean, you can hire a transportation service or rent a card and join the tour at El Ceibo restaurant in Guápiles, where we will have our first breakfast. Check with our sales department to coordinate.  We normally arrive from San José to Guápiles at 8:15 a.m. and leave at 9:00 a.m. under normal conditions. Unfortunately, we cannot wait if you do not show up at the scheduled time.

12 Do you offer all-inclusive service at the hotel?

Hotel does not offer all-inclusive service. Packages include transportation by bus and by boat from/to San José, lodging, all meals, guided tours, bilingual guides throughout the itinerary and taxes. Packages do not include alcoholic beverages or carbonated drinks, bottled water, fee to enter Tortuguero National Park, contribution to the Green turtle museum  (STC) and any other service not detailed above.

Extensive internet service at the hotel; but take into consideration that due to the density of the jungle, signal does not always works in its entirety.

Feeding

Our food is varied with national and international flavors. If you have a limitation in your diet, you must communicate it at least 8 days before your arrival.

What should I bring?

Because it is a tropical climate, we suggest you bring cool clothes, a light sweater for the bus, comfortable shoes, a bathing suit, do not forget your medications, a hat, repellent and a poncho or a raincoat

Hair dryers.

 We do not have hair dryers in the rooms.

Electrical voltage.

The type of electricity in Costa Rica is 120v y 60 Hz. The plugs used in Costa Rica are like those in the United States. Two parallel flat pegs and a third round one.

Rooms capacity.

Our rooms have one King size bed, or two full size beds. Maximum of 4 people per room counting children. We do not offer additional beds.
