Pachira Lodge Shareholder Receive Award

Each year during the EXPOTUR celebration, the Costa Rican Association of professional in Tourism (ACOPROT) acknowledges the job well done by professionals in this sector to improve, grow and promote touristic activities. This year, five members were awarded with the statuette engraved in wood of coffee root, with the image of a Costa Rican farmer, which represent the EXPOTUR Awards during the years. This sculpture was developed by the hands of Mr. Rodrigo Hernandez Navarro, craftsman of Aserri, whom have developed the awarding prize. EXPOTUR Awards distinction for 2009, during the 25th anniversary where: Pioneer of Tourism, Friends of the Nature and Special Award – EXPORTUR 2009. During the award ceremony, we had the distinguish presence of Dr. Oscar Arias Sanchez, President of Costa Rica, Mr. Carlos Ricardo Benavides, Minister of Tourism, from the San Jose Mayoress Office, Mrs. Mauren Clarke and Acoprot President, Mr. Carlos Lizama.  

Guillermo Ortiz,
National Promoter Award

The National Promoter Award was granted to Guillermo Ortiz, due to his invaluable work and dedication with the promotion of Costa Rica tourism. Mr. Ortiz completed his high school studies at Maine South in the state of Illinois, USA. Subsequently, he studied Social Science and Politics at the University of Costa Rica. Additionally he completed International Relation courses at the University of UACA in Costa Rica. Also, Mr. Ortiz assisted to the International School of Touristic Science in Rome, Italy during years 1982 thru 1983 with a Major in Touristic Science and an High Specialization in Touristic Marketing. He also studied at the Norteña University and at the School of Hotels Administration at the University of Cornell.. Guillermo participated actively in a number of different conferences and seminars as well as in important international touristic fears worldwide; as well as in Costa Rica EXPOTUR. . To date, he is the President of the marketing company named C.I.T. MARKETING and shareholder of Pachira Lodge in Tortuguero, Costa Rica. He also holds the Presidency of the Pro Image Group – Costa Rica which he where Co-Founder. He is an Honorary Member of ACOPROT.
